Maple Baked Beans

These are delicious hot, cold, room temperature, alone or along side other food. They paired very nicely with the Maple Glazed Pork Tenderloin. Hat tip to my mother for the recipe.

Maple Baked Beans

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs white navy beans
  • 1/4 lb bacon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 c maple syrup
  • 2-3 tbsp dark brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2-3 cups water

Directions 

  1. Soak beans overnight in water
  2. Drain beans and place in deep saucepan
  3. Cover with water and boil for 45 mins
  4. Drain beans and add to oven-safe saucepan or dutch oven (with cover)
  5. Add remaining ingredients to pot, cover, and cook at 325F for 3 hours
  6. Check every 30-45 mins and add water to keep beans moist
